It's about time...

Welcome to the first edition of the New California Republic blog.

Having witnessed the ongoing fragmentation of the United States, the constant sniping from the radical left and radical right that is polarizing our once great country, and the economic destruction wrought by our representatives in Congress and the White House as they sell the country out to debt slavery and the multinational banks and corporations that own the politicians....

...it is time to suggest a change.

This blog was created to spur the dialog and make the case that California would be better off on its own and not part of the "United States" any more.  A few reasons why (to be explored/debated more in future posts):

  • As the 8th largest economy in the world, we could have a budget surplus every year if we weren't sending our hard earned $ to the US treasury in the form of Federal income taxes
  • We could have a sensible "guest worker/migrant" program with Mexico, allowing for the end to the costs and injustices associated with rounding up illegal immigrants
  • We could legalize marijuana and end a primary source of funding for the gangs that plague both Mexico and California
  • Legalization would also solve a major part of our overcrowding of prisons - and stop destroying the lives of individuals who have done nothing "wrong"
  • Allow for California to become the new "shining city on the hill" for other countries to follow, by adopting progressive laws around the environment, education, and business (among others) - and to give us a voice at the table internationally rather than being drowned out by the very biased voice of the "United States" (read: special interests that control our govt and foreign policy)

I'm sure there is more, but for starters, that is enough.  There are points in all of these that we as Californians - liberal and conservative - can agree upon.  What we must all agree is that the US is dragging us down...

Welcome to the Great Republic of California!
